Welcome! Here's a few legal (check your state government) USA poker sites.

Well I'm finally stepping away from the tables to create this poker information portal.  Online poker isn't illegal in the United States like most people think. It's tricky, it isn't legal in all states that's why I say check to make sure. No one has been arrested and prosecuted for playing online poker to my knowledge. Here's a chart with current legal standings in the summer of 2015.  White is right, red is bad with orange right behind it and yellow is grey so to speak.

My purpose is to share the resources and information that have helped me improve upon my Poker game.  I will post guides, links, software etc.  I will also try to announce free rolls.  Free rolls are great for newcomers who need experience on the tables without risking money.  It's more realistic than play money poker, and gaining experience without risking money is priceless.   I played play money poker back in 2006 for 6 months and then I took 10 dollars and played 1 dollar buy in tournaments.  I didn't make money but I didn't lose money either.  Well actually I did make money but just enough to pay for the juice, which enabled me to continue to play.  For every one dollar buy in I had to pay a dime to Pokerstars. The juice is usually 10% and that's how poker sites and casinos make their money.

If you want to get started with some free rolls then I recommend Poker MIRA. When setting up your account use Dubstepticon as you referrer and promo code PLCOM for your bonus.  they have multiple free rolls every day and CarbonPoker is doing one every night (10:00 p.m. EST) in honor of shark week.

For those who want to deposit money I recommend Bovada, it has the most cash games, tournaments and I believe overall players out of all the US friendly sites.  It's an anonymous site so if you are like me and used to Pokerstars and Fulltilt it may take a little getting used to.  I actually think it's better this way, tracking databases will not track your playing style. You can download your hand history 24 hours after your hand is played and since it's anonymous you can see if you got bluffed or made a great fold.
